Amber Rice, 2023 GK at Grand Junction Fire in western Colorado is a gem of a student-athlete that will put great season performances in at her future college. Amber is a 4.1 GPA taking AP’s with her sights set on pre-med or biology majors. She is taking an Emergency Medical Responder Course at Western Community College while balancing her academics and a very busy soccer schedule. Amber is in an underexposed area of the state and her team won’t travel much, but she takes advantage of her every opportunity.

She is very quick off her line and has good agility from post to post. She greatly limits her need to come up with saves through her excellent communication and direction with her defense. Amber doesn’t give up second chances with her strong hands and positioning. Standing 5’4″ she commands the box and is aggressive to each ball. Her judgement is solid on crossing balls and high shots on frame. She is difficult to score on and has an excellent keeper mentality.

She bounces back quickly from goals against with an encouraging word to her team while her teammates have a huge trust in her between the posts. Amber plays very well with both feet and is part of her team possession with passbacks and switching play. She throws with both her left and right and releases her team quickly on the counterattack when needed.
