It’s less than two weeks until the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand gets underway, and as teams make their way out to Oceania the anticipation is building.

We have heavyweights serial winners, tournament mainstays and eight debutants preparing for battle ahead of the opening game on July 20th, with the best players from all around the world coming together for the biggest competition that the women’s game has to offer.

It’s a team game, of course, and the best team will come out victorious, but here at the Remarkables we wanted to take a look at 10 of the brightest young talents – aged 23 or under – that will be on show over the next month or so.

Barbra Banda – 23, Zambia

Banda is one of the most exciting players on the African continent at present, and she’ll be out to strut her stuff on the world stage this summer. The former professional boxer got two against Germany in a pre-tournament friendly this month, and as the striker nears a half century of goals for the Copper Queens there will be plenty of eyes on her this month.

Linda Caicedo – 18, Colombia

Caicedo was just 15 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and she didn’t know whether she’d be able to pursue her dream of professional football. Fast-forward a few years, though, and the talented attacker is one of the hottest properties in the women’s game and playing for Real Madrid. She’ll be one to watch without doubt.

Melchie Dumornay – 19, Haiti

“Not a word of a lie, Melchie Dumornay is the best player that I’ve ever coached,” said Reims coach, Amandine Miquel, about Dumornay before she sealed her move to giant French outfit, Olympique Lyonnais. The teenage forward agreed the move prior to the World Cup, and Lyon fans will be eager to see how she performs on the global stage.
